Leadership Tryouts

Last week on Friday I went to leadership tryouts, so I could become a Peer Acedimic Leader (PAL). A PAL is basically someone who will help their floor of students with any trouble they might have throughout the school year wether it be personal or acedemic. I wanted to become a PAL because I am really good at my acedemics, I like to help people, and so I could be more involved in school life. At tryouts I was nervous at first because I absolutely hate speaking in front of people, it gives me anxiety. After hearing some of the presentation in the beginning I started to become more comfortable until we split into our groups. The first station my group went to was the cheer station where we had to come up with a cheer that had to incorporate all of our names into it. It was a little awkward at first because not many of us knew each other. We eventually got it down but then we found out we would have to do our cheer in front of everyone trying out. We went to the next room were we got into pairs where one of us was blindfolded and the other had to navigate them through a field of cups on the floor without hitting any of them. The next room was the scenario room where we had to go up one by one and act out a scenario that we would have to go through with the RAs and PALs of this year. I was also very nervous for this room because like I said I hate talking in front of people. The next room we split into two groups and had a list of things we had to get done and would get points for them and by that point we had all gotten used to each other so I believe we were talking and laughing a lot more. As we would go through the list and do the things the people hosting the room would walk up to us and come up with little scenarios as well and ask us what we would do in those situations. We were all a little confused at first but we eventually got it down. The next and final game room was a box of square where we all had to fit our feet into the squares as they consecutively got smaller and as the boxes got smaller we either could only say one word or could not even talk at all. At the last and smallest box though we were allowed to talk and we where able to fit inside the box. With four people as the base and three of us standing on top of their feet. We finally went back to the big room we started in and we had to do our cheers in front of everybody. Everyone was laughing and had a great time. The next step is to see in I get called in for an interveiw. I guess we will just have to wait and see if I get called back in.

Thanks for reading my blog! Have you ever wanted to be and RA or PAL or have you ever had crazy tryouts like this?
